Full-Time Employees

You are generally eligible for ACS’ benefits if you are classified as a regular full-time employee (not temporary, contract, project-based or part-time) and regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week for ACS or one of its subsidiaries that participate in ACS’ benefits. Your eligibility date for benefits is determined by your status and your annual salary on your date of hire, as shown in the chart below.

You must enroll within 31 days of your eligibility date. If you do not enroll within 31 days of your eligibility date, you will not have the opportunity to enroll again until the next annual enrollment unless you experience a qualifying life status change or you are entitled to special enrollment.

Status

Annual Salary

Eligibility Date

Exempt

Any

First of the month following 30 days of employment, or on the 30th day if it falls on the first of the month.

Non-Exempt

Over $30,000

First of the month following 30 days of employment, or on the 30th day if it falls on the first of the month.

Non-Exempt

$30,000 and below

First of the month following 90 days of employment, or on the 90th day if it falls on the first of the month.

Example 1:  An exempt employee who was hired on September 3, 2009 will have 30 days of service as of October 3, 2009.  This employee would become eligible for employee benefits on November 1, 2009.

Example 2:  A non-exempt employee who makes more than $30,000 per year and who was hired on September 1, 2009 will have 30 days of service as of October 1, 2009.  This employee would become eligible for employee benefits on October 1, 2009.

Example 3:  A non-exempt employee who makes less than $30,000 per year and who was hired on September 3, 2009 will have 90 days of service as of December 2, 2009.  This employee will become eligible for employee benefits on January 1, 2010.

Exceptions: Employees hired into Buck Consultants (full-time and part-time), hired in the state of Hawaii, or rehired within 12 months of previous service and with less than a 12 month break in service become eligible for employee benefits on their date of hire.

If your status changes from a part-time or project-based employee to a regular full-time employee, service time earned under the part-time or project-based status will count toward your benefit eligibility. The effective date of your benefits would be the first day of the month following 30 or 90 days from your date of hire (according to the chart above) or the date of your qualifying life status change, whichever is later.

For example: If you are hired as a part-time employee with an annual salary of $25,000 on June 2, 2009 and convert to full-time status on November 13, 2009, you would be benefit eligible on your first day of full-time employee status—in this instance, November 13, 2009.

If You and Your Spouse or Domestic Partner Both Work for ACS

If you and your spouse or domestic partner are both eligible employees, either you or your spouse or domestic partner can elect to be covered as a dependent, instead of as an employee for health care coverage. However, neither of you can be covered as both an employee and as a dependent. Eligible dependent children can only be covered by one of you.
